A marketplace is a payments business whether it wants to be or not. The moment you sit between a buyer and a seller, you have to collect money, route the right amount to the right person, take your commission, and prove every cent of it later. The CryptoPayr Platform API is built to do precisely that — in crypto, with a single integration.
The marketplace money problem
Charging for your own products is easy. Charging on behalf of hundreds of independent sellers is where most platforms get stuck:
- Each seller needs to be paid their share, reliably and on time.
- You need to skim a commission — a percentage, a fixed fee, or both — without ever pushing a seller negative.
- You need a clean audit trail for every order, every seller and every split.
- And you would rather not manage a separate set of API keys and credentials per seller to do it.
How the Platform API solves it
With a CryptoPayr platform account, you operate with one API key and reference each seller by their account ID. Here is the flow:
- Your seller shares their account ID. Each merchant on your marketplace gives you their
usr_… identifier. They keep their own account and balance.
- You create the charge. Call the API with the amount, the seller to credit, and your commission — for example 5% plus $0.50.
- The buyer pays once. They check out in crypto exactly as they would for any order.
- Settlement splits automatically. On confirmation, CryptoPayr credits the seller their net and your commission to your balance, in one atomic step.
The commission is capped at the seller's net, so a misconfigured fee can never make a seller owe you money. On a $100 order with a 5% + $0.50 commission and the standard processing fee, your seller is credited their share and your cut lands in your balance the instant the payment completes — no invoices, no end-of-month reconciliation run.
Built for reconciliation, not just collection
Taking the money is half the job; proving it is the other half. The Platform API gives you:
- Platform webhooks. A signed
order.completed event fires to your endpoint for every on-behalf order, separate from the seller's own webhook — so your ledger and theirs stay independent.
- A live commission statement. Every order, seller and commission in one place, exportable to CSV for accounting.
- Instant onboarding. Apply from your dashboard, get approved instantly, and keep your normal merchant account for your own sales.
Who it's for
If you run a digital goods marketplace, a services platform, a gig or creator marketplace, or any model where you collect for third parties and take a fee, this is the missing piece. Ordinary merchants selling their own products do not need it — a standard account already does that.
