What is Cryptocurrency?
Cryptocurrency is digital money that moves on public blockchains instead of through banks and card networks. Bitcoin came first, Ethereum added tokens and apps on top, and stablecoins such as USDT and USDC track the US dollar, so a buyer can pay a fixed price without worrying about the market. A payment goes from the buyer's wallet to an address, and once the network confirms it, no bank can pull it back.
The people who pay this way are more varied than the stereotype. Some have held Bitcoin for years and like to spend it. Others keep their savings in stablecoins because their local currency is weak or because their bank makes cross-border payments slow. Freelancers and remote workers are often paid in USDT. Gamers, developers and privacy-minded shoppers often have a wallet on their phone already.
That is why businesses that sell online, from web hosts and software makers to game servers, digital shops and creators, choose to accept crypto payments alongside cards or instead of them. A crypto checkout works the same way for a buyer in Brazil, Germany or the Philippines, needs no bank on either side, and settles without the long wait and the reversals that come with cross-border card payments.
How Cryptocurrency works on CryptoPayr
Every payment starts on a hosted checkout page, whether it comes from a store plugin, a payment link, an invoice or the API. The buyer needs no account and can read the page in 25 languages. They pick a coin and a network, and the checkout shows the exact amount, the address and a QR code. They scan it with their wallet app, or on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Avalanche and Arbitrum they tap Connect Wallet & Pay and approve it in MetaMask or any WalletConnect wallet.
CryptoPayr watches the blockchain for the payment. When it is final, we tell your store and the order is marked paid, and you get an email and a line in your dashboard. By default the payment is converted and credited to your USD balance; you can choose to keep the exact coin instead. A slightly short payment can still complete within the tolerance you set, and any overpayment is saved as credit for the buyer. From there you withdraw to your own wallet, by hand or on an automatic schedule.
How a buyer pays with Cryptocurrency
Pick a coin and a network
The buyer chooses what they hold, from Bitcoin and Ethereum to USDT on TRON or USDC on Polygon. No account is needed on our side to pay.
Scan the code or connect a wallet
They scan the QR code with their wallet app, or tap Connect Wallet & Pay to send the payment from MetaMask or any WalletConnect wallet on supported networks.
Wait for the network
The blockchain confirms the payment, which usually takes minutes depending on the network the buyer chose. They can follow its progress on the checkout page.
Receive the order
Your store marks the order paid automatically, so the download, account access or shipping confirmation goes out without anyone checking a wallet by hand.
Why merchants offer Cryptocurrency
Accept crypto payments without the price risk
By default each payment is converted and credited to your USD balance when it settles, so a drop in the market the next day does not touch your revenue. Prefer to hold crypto? Keep the exact coin the buyer paid with instead.
No chargebacks on crypto
A confirmed blockchain payment is final. No card network can reverse it weeks after you delivered, so an order that was paid stays paid, and a refund only happens when you decide to issue one.
Fees that fall as you grow
Processing starts at 2% and drops to 1.5% above $1,000 a month and to 1% above $5,000 a month. There are no setup fees, no monthly fees and no monthly minimums to meet.

Cryptocurrency payments: FAQ
Which cryptocurrencies can I accept?
More than 110, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, USDC, Litecoin, Solana, BNB, TRON, Monero, Dogecoin, XRP and TON. You do not need a separate wallet for each coin to get paid. Payments land in your CryptoPayr balance, and you withdraw to your own wallet in the coin you choose.
Which networks can buyers pay on?
Every major network. Stablecoins such as USDT and USDC can be sent on several chains, so the buyer picks the network their wallet uses, often the one that costs them least to send on. The checkout then shows the address and the exact amount for that network.
What happens if the price changes after the sale?
By default, nothing happens to you. Each payment is converted and credited to your USD balance, so price swings do not touch your revenue. If you would rather hold crypto, you can choose to keep the exact coin the buyer paid with, and then the value of that balance moves with the market like any other crypto you own.
How long does a crypto payment take to confirm?
Usually minutes, depending on the network. Some chains confirm faster than others, and Bitcoin tends to be among the slower ones because it waits for new blocks. The order is marked paid only once the payment is final on the blockchain, and you get an email and a dashboard notification as soon as it is.
Can I refund a cryptocurrency payment?
Yes. Issue a refund from your dashboard or through the API. The customer receives an email with a link, enters the wallet address where they want the refund, and it is sent from your balance. Because crypto has no chargebacks, a refund only ever happens when you choose to give one.
What does it cost to accept cryptocurrency payments?
The processing fee is 2% of each payment, dropping to 1.5% once you pass $1,000 a month and to 1% above $5,000 a month. There are no setup fees, no monthly fees and no monthly minimums. The buyer pays their own network fee when they send the payment.
Do I need to pass KYC to accept crypto?
No. CryptoPayr does not require KYC or KYB to open or run a merchant account, and you do not need a registered company. You can sign up and go live the same day. Two-factor login and sanctions screening of payout addresses protect the account, and our Acceptable Use Policy applies to what you sell.
