Accept Interac payments from Canadian buyers
Accept Interac payments from shoppers in Canada and get paid in crypto. They pay from their own bank on a partner's page, and you are credited the order amount in your USD balance.
What is Interac?
Interac is Canada's domestic payment network, set up by Canadian banks and credit unions in the 1980s. It runs Interac Debit, the way Canadians pay with their bank card in stores, and Interac e-Transfer, which lets people send money from online banking to anyone with an email address or a mobile number. For most Canadians, it is simply part of how money moves.
Canadians use Interac for everyday things: splitting rent, paying a contractor, sending money to family, paying for online orders. It works from the banking app they already have, the money comes straight from their own bank account, and there is no card number to type into a website. For a lot of shoppers that feels safer and simpler than a credit card, and some don't have a credit card at all.
CryptoPayr lets you accept Interac payments from buyers in Canada on orders from CA$100, through our on-ramp. The buyer pays with Interac on a partner's page, the partner turns the money into crypto and sends it to the order, and you receive a settled crypto payment credited to your USD balance. You need no Canadian bank account and no payment contract of your own, and there are no transfers to match against orders by hand.
How Interac works on CryptoPayr
Switch on "Pay by card" in Settings → Payments. A buyer in Canada whose order is worth CA$100 or more then sees an Interac button on your checkout, next to the crypto options. They click it, a partner's page opens in a new tab, and they pay there with Interac from their Canadian bank account. Some partners ask a first-time buyer to verify their identity on that page; CryptoPayr never sees the documents.
The partner turns the payment into crypto and sends it to the order. When it arrives, the order is confirmed automatically and your store marks it paid, whether the buyer came from a plugin, a payment link or the API. You are credited the order amount in your USD balance, minus your normal processing fee, and the buyer pays a processing fee on top of the order: the greater of $2.99 or 9% + $1.50.
How a buyer pays with Interac
Choose Interac at checkout
A buyer in Canada with an order of CA$100 or more sees the Interac button on your checkout and picks it instead of paying in crypto.
Pay from their bank
A partner's page opens in a new tab, and the buyer pays there with Interac from their own Canadian bank account, following the steps shown.
The payment becomes crypto
The partner turns the Canadian dollars into crypto and sends it to the order. The buyer never needs a wallet or an exchange account.
The order confirms itself
When the crypto reaches the order, it is confirmed automatically. The buyer sees the order paid, and you get a notification by email and in your dashboard.
Why merchants offer Interac
Accept Interac payments without a Canadian bank
Selling to Canada doesn't have to mean opening a Canadian bank account to receive transfers. Switch on "Pay by card" and buyers in Canada can pay with Interac while you receive crypto in your CryptoPayr balance.
No transfers to match by hand
Manual Interac transfers mean checking your bank, matching names and amounts, and chasing missing notes. Here the order is confirmed automatically when the crypto arrives, and your store marks it paid without you.
Credited in USD
Interac orders land in your USD balance at the order amount, minus your normal processing fee of 2%, 1.5% or 1% by monthly volume. Price swings between the sale and your payout don't touch you.
The buyer pays the method fee
The fee for paying with Interac through the partner, the greater of $2.99 or 9% + $1.50, is added on top of the order for the buyer. You don't have to raise your prices to cover it.
A settled payment, a simple account
What reaches your order is a settled crypto payment; if the buyer disputes what they paid, that is between them and the partner that sold them the crypto. Your account needs no KYC and has no setup or monthly fees.

Interac payments: FAQ
Who sees the Interac button?
Buyers in Canada, on orders worth CA$100 or more, once you have switched on "Pay by card" in Settings → Payments. Buyers elsewhere see your crypto options and the other methods available in their country. Canadian buyers on smaller orders can still pay in crypto, or with a card option where the order size allows.
Is this Interac e-Transfer?
The buyer pays with Interac on our partner's page, using the Interac option that page offers for their bank. You don't receive a transfer yourself and there is nothing to deposit or match: the partner turns the payment into crypto and sends it to your order, which then confirms automatically.
Do I need a Canadian bank account or company?
No. CryptoPayr needs no company registration and no KYC or KYB to open or run a merchant account. The buyer pays the partner in Canadian dollars, the partner sends crypto to your order, and you are credited the order amount in your USD balance.
What does it cost?
The buyer pays a processing fee on top of the order, the greater of $2.99 or 9% + $1.50. You pay your normal processing fee: 2%, dropping to 1.5% above $1,000 a month and 1% above $5,000 a month. There are no setup fees, monthly fees or monthly minimums.
Can I keep the money in crypto instead of USD?
Interac orders, like the other card and bank options on the checkout, are credited to your USD balance. You then withdraw in the coin you choose, to your own wallet, whenever you like or on an automatic schedule. For crypto payments, you can choose to keep the exact coin the buyer paid with.
Will the buyer need to verify their identity?
Some partners ask a first-time buyer to verify their identity before paying. That happens on the partner's page, and CryptoPayr never sees the documents. It changes nothing on your side: once the payment reaches the order, it is confirmed automatically and credited to your balance.
Does Interac work with my store plugin?
The Interac button appears on the CryptoPayr checkout, the same page your customers reach from our WooCommerce, PrestaShop and WHMCS plugins, from payment links and from invoices. When the order is paid, your store is told automatically and the order is marked paid, just like a crypto payment.
