Accept UPI payments from buyers in India

Accept UPI payments from shoppers in India and get paid in crypto. Buyers pay with UPI or IMPS from their own bank on a partner's page, and you are credited the order amount in your USD balance.

What is UPI?

UPI, short for Unified Payments Interface, is India's real-time payment system. Launched in 2016 by the National Payments Corporation of India, it links a person's bank account to a payments app, so they can pay with a UPI ID, a phone number or a QR code. Payments go through in seconds, at any hour, every day of the year, and the buyer approves each one with a PIN on their phone.

It has become the everyday way to pay in India, from corner shops and taxis to online stores, bills and mobile top-ups. People use it through apps such as BHIM, PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm, or through their own bank's app. IMPS, the Immediate Payment Service, is the older instant bank transfer system from the same organization, and it is still widely used to move money between banks at any time.

For a business selling to India, that matters. Many Indian shoppers would rather pay with UPI than with a card, and a checkout without it can lose them. CryptoPayr lets you accept UPI payments from buyers in India on orders from ₹1,600, through our on-ramp, and receive a settled crypto payment instead of a rupee transfer you have to chase and match by hand.

How UPI works on CryptoPayr

Switch on "Pay by card" in Settings → Payments. A buyer in India whose order is worth ₹1,600 or more then sees a UPI / IMPS button on your checkout, alongside the crypto options. They click it, a partner's page opens in a new tab, and they pay there with UPI or IMPS from their bank. The partner turns the rupees into crypto and sends it to the order. A first-time buyer may be asked to verify their identity on that page; CryptoPayr never sees the documents.

Once the crypto arrives, the order is confirmed automatically and your store marks it paid. You are credited the order amount in your USD balance, minus your normal processing fee, and the buyer pays a processing fee on top of the order: the greater of $2.99 or 9% + $1.50. You never handle rupees, bank details or payment screenshots, and you withdraw your balance in the coin you choose.

At checkout

How a buyer pays with UPI

Choose UPI / IMPS

A buyer in India with an order of ₹1,600 or more sees the UPI / IMPS button on your checkout and picks it instead of a crypto coin.

Pay from their bank

A partner's page opens in a new tab. The buyer follows the steps there and pays with UPI or IMPS from their own bank account.

Rupees become crypto

The partner turns the payment into crypto and sends it to the order. The buyer needs no wallet, no exchange and no crypto knowledge.

The order is marked paid

As soon as the crypto reaches the order, it is confirmed automatically. The buyer sees the payment complete and your store updates the order on its own.

For merchants

Why merchants offer UPI

Accept UPI payments with one switch

You don't need an Indian company, an Indian bank account or a local payment provider to accept UPI payments. Switching on "Pay by card" adds the UPI / IMPS button for buyers in India.

Paid in USD, not rupees

Every UPI order is credited to your USD balance at the order amount, minus your normal processing fee. No currency swings between the sale and your payout, and no rupee account to manage.

The buyer covers the method fee

The processing fee for paying with UPI through the partner, the greater of $2.99 or 9% + $1.50, is paid by the buyer on top of the order. Your own fee stays at 2%, 1.5% or 1% by monthly volume.

No screenshots to check

Manual UPI transfers mean matching screenshots and reference numbers by hand. Here the order is confirmed automatically when the crypto arrives, and your store, plugin or API integration is told it is paid.

A settled payment, a simple account

What reaches your order is a settled crypto payment; any dispute about how the buyer paid is between them and the partner that sold them the crypto. Your account needs no KYC, no setup fees and no monthly fees.

UPI payments: FAQ

Who can pay with UPI on my checkout?

Buyers in India, on orders worth ₹1,600 or more. The button appears for them once you switch on "Pay by card" in Settings → Payments. Buyers in other countries see your crypto options and whichever other payment methods are available where they are.

What is the difference between UPI and IMPS here?

Both are Indian bank payments that move money in real time. UPI is the app-based system most people use day to day, while IMPS is the older instant bank transfer. On our checkout they share one button, and the buyer pays with whichever the partner's page offers for their bank.

Do I need an Indian bank account or company?

No. CryptoPayr needs no company registration and no KYC or KYB to open or run a merchant account. The buyer pays the partner in rupees, the partner sends crypto to your order, and you are credited in your USD balance. You never receive rupees yourself.

What fees apply to a UPI order?

The buyer pays a processing fee on top of the order: the greater of $2.99 or 9% + $1.50. You pay your normal CryptoPayr processing fee, which is 2% and drops to 1.5% above $1,000 a month and 1% above $5,000 a month. There are no setup fees or monthly fees.

Is there a minimum order for UPI?

Yes. The UPI / IMPS button appears only when the order is worth ₹1,600 or more. For smaller orders, buyers in India can still pay you in crypto, including stablecoins such as USDT, from any wallet or exchange they already use, and the order confirms the same way.

Will the buyer have to verify their identity?

Possibly, the first time. Some partners ask a first-time buyer to verify their identity before they can pay. That check happens on the partner's page, and CryptoPayr never sees the documents. Nothing is asked of you: your merchant account needs no KYC or KYB.

How do I get my money out?

UPI orders sit in your USD balance. Withdraw to your own wallet in the coin you choose, set automatic payouts daily, weekly, monthly or when the balance reaches a threshold, or pay suppliers and contractors with bulk payouts from a CSV or Excel file. Transfers to other CryptoPayr accounts are free and instant.
