Accept iDEAL payments from buyers in the Netherlands and get paid in crypto. They pay from their own bank in a few taps, and you are credited the order amount, with no Dutch bank contract of your own.
What is iDEAL?
iDEAL is the Dutch way to pay online. Launched in 2005 by the major banks in the Netherlands, it lets a shopper pay straight from their bank account. They choose iDEAL at checkout, pick their bank or scan a QR code, approve the payment in their banking app, and they are done. There is no card number to type and no separate account to create.
It is the most widely used way to pay online in the Netherlands, and Dutch shoppers look for it at checkout the way shoppers elsewhere look for a card logo. They use it for webshop orders, tickets and bills, and they trust it because the money comes straight from their own bank account and every payment is approved in their own banking app.

And once our team approves your account for Local Payment Methods, buyers can pay in euros with iDEAL through our payment partner on orders from €1 to €150. Either way you get paid in crypto, and you never need a Dutch payment provider or bank account of your own.
How iDEAL works on CryptoPayr
The first route is the on-ramp. Switch on "Pay by card" in Settings → Payments, and a buyer in the Netherlands with an order of €46 or more sees an iDEAL button on your checkout. They pay with iDEAL on a partner's page in a new tab, the partner turns the money into crypto and sends it to the order, and the order is confirmed automatically. You are credited the order amount in your USD balance, minus your normal processing fee, and the buyer pays the greater of $2.99 or 9% + $1.50 on top.
The second route is Local Payment Methods, which also covers small orders. Click "Request access" in Settings → Payments and our team reviews it. Once approved, your checkout shows a separate button: the buyer pays in euros through our payment partner with iDEAL, or with Bancontact, a card, PayPal and other options, then pastes the order number on the checkout. Orders run from €1 to €150, the buyer pays a 7% + €0.79 service fee on top (the partner adds its own fee), and you are credited the order amount as usual.

Pay from their own bank
On the partner's page, opened in a new tab, they pay with iDEAL and approve the payment in their banking app, just as in any Dutch webshop.
The payment reaches the order
On the on-ramp route the partner turns the euros into crypto and sends it to the order. With Local Payment Methods, the buyer pastes their order number.
The order is marked paid
Once the payment is confirmed, your store marks the order paid. The buyer never needs a wallet, an exchange account or any crypto of their own.

Accept iDEAL payments without a Dutch bank deal
You don't need a Dutch payment provider or a bank contract to accept iDEAL payments. Switch on one setting for the on-ramp, request access for Local Payment Methods, and Dutch buyers can pay the way they prefer.
Small baskets and big ones
Once approved, Local Payment Methods covers orders from €1 to €150, and the on-ramp iDEAL button appears from €46. Between the two, Dutch buyers have an iDEAL option on a small top-up as well as a bigger order.
Credited the order amount
The buyer pays the method's fee on top, so you receive the order amount minus only your normal processing fee: 2%, then 1.5% above $1,000 a month and 1% above $5,000 a month.
Price swings don't touch you
On-ramp iDEAL orders are credited to your USD balance at the order amount. Withdraw to your own wallet in the coin you choose, or set automatic payouts daily, weekly, monthly or at a threshold.

Which iDEAL route should I use?
Both, if you can. The on-ramp iDEAL button needs only "Pay by card" switched on and appears for buyers in the Netherlands on orders from €46. Local Payment Methods needs our team's approval and covers orders from €1 to €150. With both on, Dutch buyers have an iDEAL option on small and larger orders alike.
Can buyers outside the Netherlands pay with iDEAL?
The on-ramp iDEAL button is shown to buyers in the Netherlands, and iDEAL itself is a Dutch bank payment, so it suits people who bank in the Netherlands. Buyers elsewhere still see your crypto options and the methods available in their country, and Local Payment Methods adds Bancontact, cards, PayPal and more for buyers paying in euros.
What does the buyer pay on top?
On the on-ramp route the buyer pays a processing fee on top of the order, the greater of $2.99 or 9% + $1.50. With Local Payment Methods they pay a 7% + €0.79 service fee on top, and the partner adds its own fee. Either way, you are credited the order amount, less your normal processing fee.
How does the order number work?
After paying, the buyer receives an order number. They paste it into the box on your checkout, and we use it to match their payment to your order. Once the payment is confirmed, the order is completed and you are credited the order amount as usual.
How do I get access to Local Payment Methods?
In Settings → Payments, click "Request access". Our team reviews the request, and once it is approved the Local Payment Methods button appears on your checkout. The on-ramp iDEAL button doesn't need approval, only the "Pay by card" switch, so you can start with that while you wait.
Do I handle refunds or disputes in euros?
No. The buyer pays the partner, and what reaches your order is a settled crypto payment, so a dispute about how the buyer paid is between them and the partner. If you choose to refund, you do it from your dashboard: the customer gets an email link and enters the address to receive the refund.
Do Dutch buyers need crypto or a wallet?
No. They pay with iDEAL from their own bank, and you still receive the order amount in your balance. On the on-ramp route, some partners ask a first-time buyer to verify their identity on the partner's page; CryptoPayr never sees those documents.
