Accept MB WAY payments from buyers in Portugal
MB WAY is the payment app on almost every phone in Portugal. Buyers enter their phone number, confirm in the app, and you are credited the order amount in your USD balance.
What is MB WAY?
MB WAY is Portugal's mobile payment app, run by SIBS, the company behind the Multibanco network. People link their bank card to their phone number once, and from then on they pay online, in shops and between friends by confirming each payment in the app.
It has become one of the most used ways to pay in Portugal, from splitting a dinner bill to paying for an online order. At checkout the buyer only types their phone number, gets a notification and approves it, so there is no card number to type on a small screen.
With CryptoPayr you can accept MB WAY payments without a Portuguese payment provider or bank account. MB WAY is part of Local Payment Methods: once our team approves your account, Portuguese buyers can pay with MB WAY on our payment partner's page, and you receive the order amount in your USD balance.
How MB WAY works on CryptoPayr
Click "Request access" for Local Payment Methods in Settings → Payments. Once our team approves it, your checkout shows a Local Payment Methods button on orders from €1 to €150. The buyer opens it, chooses MB WAY on our payment partner's page, enters their phone number and confirms the payment in the app.
After paying, the buyer pastes the order number into your checkout. The order is marked paid once the payment is confirmed, your store is told automatically, and you are credited the order amount in your USD balance, minus your normal processing fee.
How a buyer pays with MB WAY
Choose Local Payment Methods
On your checkout the buyer opens Local Payment Methods instead of picking a coin. It is shown on orders from €1 to €150.
Pay with MB WAY
On our payment partner's page, opened in a new tab, they choose MB WAY and enter the phone number linked to their app.
Confirm in the app
A notification arrives in the MB WAY app and the buyer approves the payment on their phone.
Paste the order number
Back on your checkout they paste the order number. Once the payment is confirmed, the order is marked paid.

Who can pay with MB WAY?
Buyers in Portugal who use the MB WAY app. They pay through Local Payment Methods, which is shown on your checkout once your account is approved. Multibanco is offered there too.
What are the minimum and maximum amounts?
Local Payment Methods covers orders from €1 to €150. Larger orders can still be paid with any of the 110+ coins, or by card when "Pay by card" is on.
Who pays the fees?
The buyer covers the cost of paying with MB WAY. You pay only your normal processing fee: 1%, dropping to 0.5% above $5,000 a month and 0.1% above $15,000 a month.
How do I get access?
In Settings → Payments, click "Request access" for Local Payment Methods. Our team reviews the request, and once it is approved the button appears on your checkout with MB WAY and the other methods.
How does the order number work?
After paying, the buyer receives an order number. They paste it into the box on your checkout, and we use it to match their payment to your order. Once the payment is confirmed, the order is completed.
How do I get my money out?
MB WAY orders sit in your USD balance. Withdraw to your own wallet in the coin you choose, or set automatic payouts daily, weekly, monthly or when the balance reaches a threshold.
